Brett Wood, DVM, MS, DACVS
Dr. Wood graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1990, and earned a Master's degree from Duke University in resource ecology following his undergraduate studies. He served in the U.S. Army for the next four years, then attended North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, earning his DVM degree. He then completed both a one-year internship and three-year residency in small animal surgery at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Wood is a board certified veterinary surgeon.
His training has included a wide range of soft tissue, orthopedic and neurosurgery techniques. Dr. Wood is certified to perform the TPLO (Tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) technique and is experienced with various total hip replacement systems. He has a special interest in oncologic (cancer) surgery, minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy, laparoscopy and thoracoscopy) and neurosurgery. Dr. Wood joined Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital in September 2008
