Wound Management, Grafts & Flaps
Presented by Lauren Blaeser, DVM, DACVS (Surgery)
Large skin defects can be intimidating at surgery if tension is noted or primary closure is not possible. It is essential in soft tissue surgery to have a plan B, C and D when faced with wound closure. The purpose of the talk is to arm the veterinary surgeon with general surgical principles, local techniques and a few basic skin flaps for the successful closure of skin defects. We will review local closure and tension relieving techniques and illustrate a few basic skin flaps that are not very intimidating.
