Fever Is it hot in here?

This lecture will cover a range of materials including physiology, diagnostic techniques, treatment options and prognosis. First, a short
introduction to the pathophysiology of fever as it relates both to clinical signs and drug treatments. This will include criteria regarding
when to treat a fever. Common clinical diseases that cause fever in dogs and cats and their concomitant clinical picture, appropriate
diagnostics and theapeutics will be discussed thoroughly. Confounding diseases such as Lyme, Baronella and selective emerging diseases
will also be discussed. We will also discuss situations such as a developing fever in the hospitalized patient, fever in pediatric patients
and when a fever is not a fever (hyperthermia, exogenous pyrogens, etc.)
