InTown Veterinary Group's Essex County Veterinary Referral Hospital is a 24 hour emergency/critical care and specialty hospital, providing board-certified specialty services in ophthalmology and surgery. At Essex Referral the patients we treat are in the reliable hands of experienced emergency veterinarians and board-certified specialists. Our doctors are fully equipped to handle a diverse medical and surgical case load for dogs, cats and exotic pets (pocket pets).
With access to the latest technology and a well trained staff, our emergency doctors can handle every emergency from vehicular trauma, to minor medical problems. Advanced diagnostic capabilities allow us to quickly identify problems and initiate treatment right away.
Our board-certified ophthalmologist and surgeon offer a full range of medical and surgical services for cats, dogs and exotic pets backed by comprehensive diagnostic capabilities.
If your pet needs to be hospitalized, our experienced veterinary technicians will monitor and care for your pet around the clock in the intensive care unit. Being part of the InTown Veterinary Group network allows timely access to physical therapy and board-certified specialists in dermatology, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology and radiology at our sister facility Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn, MA.

Patients treated at ECVRH must be referred by their regular veterinarian. The patient will be treated only for the condition for which they were referred. No routine procedures, such as vaccinations or heartworm testing, will be performed on any referral or referral emergency patient.
